It is recommended to start building your HTML email from an IU Branded template and use content blocks we provide. You can find the templates in the “IU Branded Templates folder” located in the Shared section. You can find the blocks themselves in the IU Assets folder.

Add a button in Salesforce Marketing Cloud Content Builder

To add a button:

  1. In the Content tab, drag and drop the Button content block into the layout, where you want it display:

  2. In the email preview pane, a button with the text Button Text will display. Hover over the button block, and click to edit it.
  3. In the Block Editor on the left, under the Content tab, enter your button text. Use descriptive text for subscribers using assistive technologies.
  4. Set the alignment to left, right, or center.
  5. Make sure the button color is set to #990000, and then set the padding and border widths as desired:

  6. To add a link, under "Link":
    1. Ise the Link to drop-down list to select one of the link types:
      • Website (http://)
      • Secure Website (https://)
      • Email Address (mailto:)
      • Forward to a Friend
      • Document
      • Anchor to Text
      • Other

    2. In the "Link URL" field, enter the URL. Do not include http:// or https:// if the link type is Website (http://) or Secure Website (https://).
    3. In the "Link Title" field, enter text for a hover-over tool tip.
    4. Optionally:
      • Enter a tracking alias. This is a helpful option when using analytics.
      • Select Conversion Tracking Link.
  7. On the Block Settings tab, configure the background, border, and spacing settings as desired.
  8. When you're finished, click Done Editing.
