People use their phones for all kinds of purposes and that includes checking email. It is critical that your emails are easy to view and engage with on a mobile device. One important criterion is creating responsive emails, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud does that automatically. Much like websites adjust to the screen size of the device they are viewed on, so do the emails built in Marketing Cloud using the email framework.
Beyond responsiveness, there are other elements to consider to make your emails mobile-friendly.
Considerations for mobile
- Above all, make it concise and clear. Your recipients do not want to scroll endlessly on their phone, and may delete an email out of frustration if it's too long or hard to understand. This is also true if viewed on a computer.
- Keep your important points and call to action near the top, so that mobile audiences will see them quickly.
- Organize content in scannable chunks to make it easy for the recipient to find pertinent information.
- Test emails on different devices, including different mobile phones. This will help you see how the information is laid out and you can better position your call to action for a variety of screen sizes.
- Make your font size at least 16 pixels so content is easier to read on a small screen. Similarly, don’t stack links on top of each other; you want viewers to be able to tap them easily with their finger. These techniques will also help make your emails more accessible.
